CLOGGITY CLOG

YOURSELF SILLY.
DIANE VON FURSTENBERG SPRING 2011 BACKSTRAP CLOG, $295 AT NETAPORTER

Clogs have always been a bit tricky. In my opinion, they are one of the least comfortable shoes a woman could wear. Usually incredibly heavy and cumbersome and typically with a decent 3-4" heel, these bad boys are hard to wear for any extended period of time. They have never won the most beautiful shoe contest either, but that's never really been their intent. Sort of an urban hippy shoe, the clog has been reborn many, many times. This year's clog, however, promises something even better.

LOUIS VUITTON SPRING 2011 CLOG
We're seeing tons of back straps and open toes made of flexible materials, breaking the clog out of that tough, restricting leather. They're not as heavy either, as designers are now trying cork and rubber at the sole instead of the standard wood sole. The clog is taking on new shapes and sizes and personas and we like it.

I know, the name clog conjures up all sorts of images, some more pleasant than others...

SWEET GOD NO. UNLESS YOU'RE GARDENING.

7 FOR ALL MANKIND CLOGS, $235 AT SHOPBOP

we promise, however, that Spring 2011 will be showcasing a whole slew of clog-worthy shoes that could rival your favorite pair of wedges. Give it a whirl, they might just surprise you.
