BILLY REID REIGNS SUPREME

CFDA NAMES BILLY REID IT'S VOGUE FASHION FUND PRIZE WINNER AND WE COULDN'T BE HAPPIER!

The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund prize is not only a $300,000.00 purse, but also public recognition from some of Fashion's most influential voices including Diane von Furstenberg and Anna Wintour. Each year one up and coming American designer is selected as the head of the class and given the opportunity to meet with some heavy hitting business advisors on a regular basis with the idea of building a truly formidable fashion empire. Sound too good to be true? It's not. Just ask designers like Derek Lam, Alexander Wang, Philip Lim, Rodarte, Rogan and even Thom Brown whose brands went from exciting small ventures to household names and fashion forces to reckon with.

When it comes to Billy Reid I can't say enough good things. We in Sacramento have a certain 1960's maude revival meets prep punk that is not easy to achieve but something that our area hipsters have perfected by way of vintage stores combined with regular trips to J Crew. Enter Billy Reid, a designer who seems to literally pulse the style of today in a way that makes his clothes feel like they have a genuine history while still looking edgy and new. It's almost like Billy spent years in Sacramento's midtown following around our twenty somethings to gain inspiration. I'm a huge fan of his skinny bowties and also love his outerwear. I can't wait to see what this guy will do with this dream prize and all the worlds fashion resources at his finger tips. Congrats Billy! Some pieces from BR below. Check out his women's and past collections at his website HERE and read more about the prize he won HERE.
