YOU'll BE SEEING STRIPES THIS SEASON
They are literally everywhere. I don’t know if there is some sort of Bat Sign that hit’s the night sky in Fashionville, but somehow each year designers as high end as Burberry and as low end as the Gap seem to jump on trends in a simultaneous endorsement. This season’s muse? Men in Stripes.
While the striped nautical look is a classic, it is often done horribly wrong. The goal is to end up looking more Jean Paul Gautier than Captain Crunch. How does one straddle this fine line with out ending up chum for the judgmental fashion piranhas in their lives? Let the stripes speak for themselves. The look is bold and strong, and cannot share the spotlight. Wear this look with simple chinos, jeans, shorts etc in neutral tones. Do not wear jewelry, hats etc. NEVER tuck, and if you have pudding in the middle, maybe stay away from this trend altogether (horizontal stripes = no bueno for big people). Other than all that, go for it. I think it's a good look - but don't go crazy - the trend will be gone almost as soon as it came.
