FASHION IS LIFE:

CAREN TEMPLET IS REDEFINING CUSTOM COUTURE AND ALL WITHIN THE CONFINES OF SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA.

CAREN TEMPLET IN HER OWN DESIGN

CAREN TEMPLATE STUDIO DOWNTOWN

So, I walked into her small boutique on 18th and L Street and became overwhelmed by the delightful peony (or maybe it was rose) scent that permeated her crisp and modern abode. A British, redheaded beauty greets me at the door. Caren Templet. Dressed in a gray jersey t shirt and high-waisted gray twill pants, Caren screamed sophistication. Her art-deco diamond earrings proudly framed her face. You could just tell, she was doing exactly what she should be doing. Designing for sophisticated women everywhere.

As I perused the store, I spotted elegant frocks in satins and smocked, printed skirts in whites and creams and wait, what's that? A suddenly sophisticated, but equally edgy black satin buckled jacket. It is so. Caren Templet is a designer who prides herself on the quality and also the flattering landscape her clothes offer each customer. She custom makes many pieces and at the drop of a hat, will change the button pattern or the seam on any of her garments to please the more opinionated fashionista.

Caren is custom making a wedding gown for a shoot Sister|Brother is styling next month and so our meeting began, but not without constant interruption by our fashion-obsessed minds. Jumping from one thought to the next and discussing Vogue issues and campaign spreads, we often finished eachother's sentences. Mother of four, she spoke to me in a manner only a mother of three could truly appreciate. She has managed to have both worlds. A career and a successful family life. Caren Templet is the American dream in a tiny, well defined British body. And I quote:

"Fashion is life, Mary. It is in everything that we do. The way we fold our clothes, the furniture we select for our homes, the cars we drive in, the street lamps we walk under."

Go see for yourself the art that Caren is creating. You will not walk away disappointed.
