TREND ALERT - CLEAN IT UP

SPIKY HAIR IS FOR BOYS.
CLEAN IT UP - COIF IT OUT
AND TRESS LIKE A MAN.

Here is the deal guys. Spiky hair had its moment in your life. When you were 13 you had the world ahead of you, not a care in the world, and the freedom to form your hairstyle from a kitchen bowl and a pair of clippers. Come college you wanted to rebel and get a little cray cray so you went ahead and shaved your head, spiked it out or even - gasp - frosted your tips. I admit, I've done it all too. Now while you might feel as virile and energetic as ever, the writing on the wall is that if you are over 21 years old, you are now a man - like a real life - just like your dad - paying the bills - squeeze extra hard when you shake other man's hands MAN. With that man-ness comes a certain responsibility to look the part. Spikey hair just aint cutting it anymore.

My suggestion is to take a cue from some of hollywoods leading men who are managing to look their age and at the same time extremely sexy with a few adjustments to their gentlemanly coif. Rule number one - no more or at least very limited clippers. Rule number two - when in doubt go with length. Rule number 3 - go with a small amount of the right product, say no to the Dep. Rule 4 - Apply said product to dry hair - product on wet hair is no bueno. When in doubt consult a great stylist - and get your hair shaped well by someone who is used to cutting men's hair and who keeps up on their cutting classes. There are a lot of salons around Sactown that don't require their stylists to keep educated on new trends and techniques. I recently had a great cut from Marci at Muse Boutique arguably the best in town. Give her a ring and get your mangy mop in check.

Jake's look is medium length on top - even on the sides

Ryan slightly less polished but still clean and with a little length

Chace rocking the punk pomp

Ryan isn't afraid of the part on the right occasion

My new favorite leading man Matt Bomer with longer locks kept well maintained and shaped
