FASHION WEEK.
YSL RUNWAY, SPRING 2011 |
Most of us watch from afar as designers light runways on fire with collections they've been working on for months and months, sometimes years. This year, like every year, I cannot wait until the shows begin, wishing with every amber of my body that I was sitting front row at Giambattista Valli or Stella McCartney, Oscar de la Renta or Catherine Malandrino, Alexander McQueen (though its founder has left us too soon)... or, hell, even Diane Von Furstenberg would do. To be part of the energy, the sheer creative and the elite of the fashion population of the world, would be like a slice of heaven. This is where it happens, people. Sure, there's London, Milan, Paris... but New York... well, New York, she's in a class all her own. She starts the parade of Fall fashion and creates the season's fashion directive and this week is all hers.

If you have a passion for fashion, you don't sit back idly and wait for VOGUE's March issue to grace us with post pictures... no, you're scouring the internet for designers' latest crop of runway shots minutes after the models have walked their final march. It's like a woman's version of Fantasy Football...only way better. Duh.
Spoilers aren't allowed in fashion. After all, who would show up for the show if they knew what to expect? So, in the spirit of NY Fashion Week, here are a few of my favorites from NYFW Fall 2010. My heart is racing I'm so excited to see what this week will bring.
