IT'S TIME TO HIT THE GYM.

BATHING SUIT WEATHER IS ONLY A FEW MONTHS AWAY.

I know, so irritating, but so true. It feels like Winter came to the party tardy, but with a vengeance and now, just like that, she's on her way out. 100 degree Summer weather is still a few months out, but Spring break and coastal vacations, well, are just around the corner. It's time to start shopping and maybe add a day or two at the gym.

Swimwear 2011 is all about color and fun textures and materials. Much like our clothing trends this year, swimwear is allowing fashionistas everywhere to have some fun... get creative and forget about being uber sexy with your goodies hanging out every which way. After all, unless you're hanging out at Tao Beach in Las Vegas, you probably ought not dress like you are. Let's add some class and some real style to our swimwear, shall we?

INCA RILEY FRINGE BIKINI, $225 AT SHOPBOP
Fringe and ruffles are making their way on to swimwear lines everywhere this year. I like that it creates some interest to an otherwise rather simple black bikini. The one shoulder one-piece is replacing the cutout catastrophes that might as well have left us all naked nevermind the awful tan lines they produced of last Summer. Let's aim for a simple cut with some embellishments and pretend we never tried one of those ridiculous items on. Who are we kidding anyway? It's not like we are posing for Victoria's Secret swimwear catalog and if you think you belong on the cover, there's a reason you're not. I'm just sayin'...

NINGALOO SWIMWEAR 2011
I really like the stones on the Ningaloo suit featured above and, what I like to call, a St. Tropez vibe. I mean, really, throw on some bangles and some killer lace-up sandals and you might as well be on a yacht sailing to a tropical paradise. Retro prints in neons are so cool. I particularly like these colors on a classic halter suit. It seems to fulfill the retro look perfectly.

AGUA BENDITA 2011
Mara Hoffman's 2011 collection is color-blocked and has beautiful layering pieces. We all could use a shawl or a robe or a wrap when coming from the pool, why not create an entire ensemble and exude the ultimate poolside chic?
MARA HOFFMAN SWIMWEAR 2011
If you like to cover up the bottom half, try on a boy short with a cute tank or bikini top. This look never grows old or out of style. So Marilyn Monroe and so very cool at any age and on any body type.

IF KELLY OSBOURNE CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU.
L*SPACE BOY SHORT BIKINI. SO CHIC.

Now, go get your gym on and a good spray tan because a hot bathing suit is waiting for you, lady.
