THOM BROWN + WILLY WONKA + PILGRIMS + BATSH*T CRAZINESS

= AN AMAZINGLY ENTERTAINING SHOW!

Thom Browne is known for his offbeat and entertaining presentation style. It was no surprise that his Autumn/Fall presentation in Paris has the fashion media going crazy - and rightfully so, as this was by far his most off the wall exhibition yet. In the perfect aristocratic setting (the ballroom of the Westin Hotel in Paris) - Ford staged an acid trip version of a 17th century formal extravaganza. "Party guests" dressed in fantastical costumes constructed in plaids and feathers, prints and head pieces from every era and tribe served as distractions - albeit fun - from more wearable TB standards like cropped blazers and trousers, tartan overcoats and waistcoats and workman oriented accessories like thick scarves and tall chukka boots. Models rose from their seats in groups of three parading around the table for spectators to admire. The entire thing was if nothing else - theatrical and fantastical. Fashion after all is art. I LOVE when designers step away from the convention of that stark white runway and do something a little more demonstrative of the personality they try to convey with their clothes. Props to Thom! 1. Diggin the button vests with the long jackets. Sort of Oliver Twist, but cool.
