WHO DOESN'T WANT TO LOOK LIKE A PRINCESS?

TAKE SOME CUES FROM WAITY KATIE.

KATE MIDDLETON IN A WHITE HIGH COLLARED JACKET WITH BLACK BUTTONS

Here's the thing - if you want to be a princess, you've got to play the part and by playing the part, I don't mean put on a tiara and dance around in a tutu. Quite the opposite, actually. Kate Middleton understood from a very young age and at the debut of her rather tumultuous courtship with his majesty, Prince William, that how one dressed was half of the battle in winning over not only Britain's matriarch, Queen Elizabeth, but also the general public. After all, who wants to embrace a young lady as part of today's monarchy who doesn't truly look the part?

NOTICE THE SUBTLETY IN BOTH HER HAIR AND MAKEUP. NEVER OVERDONE.

Perhaps she learned some of these style skills from her future, though deceased, mother-in-law, Princess Diana. Diana remains a timeless icon and has been celebrated as the "Princess of the People" for having such grace and innate sophistication.  Quite a large shadow to live in, no? No matter what, however, one thing is certain... she has a gift bestowed upon her by Princess Diana who no doubt guides her son and future daughter-in-law... exquisite taste.

KATE MIDDLETON AND PRINCE WILLIAM - THE DAY OF THEIR ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

KATE IN A GORGEOUS BLUE DRESS AND TAILORED BLACK JACKET WITH A WIDE BRIMMED HAT - SO CHIC AND PERFECT FOR A STROLL WITH A PRINCE, NO?
I believe the key to maintaining a look of sophistication and well, royalty, is to keep it simple. Kate allows herself to be bold through color, but really sticks to tailored, traditional designs, adding a hat or a bounce of feather to her coif. She is observing her duty to play a part for her fiance, but is also not afraid to modernize the monarchy's fashion doctrine with accessorized gestures like large cocktail rings, leather accents or embellished tights.

KATE IN YET ANOTHER HAT - THIS ONE, ASYMMETRICAL AND PAIRED WITH A CLASSIC RED WOOL JACKET (BLACK PATENT BELT AROUND HER WAISTA ND LEATHER GLOVES TO COMPLETE HER LOOK).

Everything Kate does is done in good taste and with a fashionably-tuned eye; turned up a smidge so that Prince William doesn't get bored (we don't want another Camilla debacle now do we)? Waity Katie may have waited a colossal chunk of time to lock down Prince William, but one thing is for certain, this girl has earned her crown. All hail, Princess Kate, royal fashion muse of our generation.

  1. Kate comes from a million dollar family hence the fashion. She is also trying to impress the Queen. I doubt if she can suceed with that it says nothing about who and what she is. Willy's mum dressed more than well and it had nothing to do with keeping their marriage together. Wearing wool will not impress willy's father either. The Royals really do not want this shot gun wedding.

  2. It is of my opinion that King William learned both common ways as well as hi archey ways. He is most rounded at this point in his life. And I feel that his mummy left quite a good impression of what not to do with both ways. Vicki Southern
